“In 2003 we engaged Jonathan Luby to undertake the internal and external repainting of our large 19th century house as part of extensive renovations.
The scope of the work was unpredictable as the walls had originally been painted with calcimine, and decades of subsequent paint layers had to be removed and the calcimine washed off and sealed before the finishing coats could be applied.
Jonathan prepared all the surfaces he worked on with utmost care and thoroughness. He then used a variety of paint techniques and finishes, some of them quite complicated to achieve the richness and depth of colour and texture we wanted. He was willing to experiment with new ideas and make them work, drawing on has extensive experience with decorative paint finishes. He has an exceptional understanding of colour and was willing to create the colours and finishes we envisaged even though it sometimes meant painting a large number of large samples.
Jonathan’s workmanship and attention to detail were outstanding. Due to the size of our job it was necessary for him to employ other painters to help with the work, and his team was dedicated, competent, amenable and justly proud of their work. We have ended up with a paint job of the highest possible quality and a distinctive home we are delighted with and proud of.
Jonathan Luby is no ordinary painter. He is one of a very rare breed of talented craftsmen who are dedicated to the work they love and who are content with producing nothing but the best. We have no hesitation in highly recommending him to any prospective clients.”
